There are eight steps involved in the action research process, which are meant to be followed in the sequence below:
- “Setting the Foundation" is identifying the issue on which to base your action research project.
- “Analyzing Data" is gathering data (research) and analyzing your initial results.
- “Developing Deeper Understanding" is using additional research tools to gain further understanding of the issue.
- “Engage in Self-Reflection" involves the practitioner asking questions of himself or herself about the potential solutions to the issue.
- “Exploring Programmatic Patterns” involves further research of potential solutions, including soliciting outside opinions of peers and supervisors.
- “Determining Direction” is finalizing the plan for the action research, such as timelines, methods of monitoring, and guidelines for revision.
- “Taking Action for School Improvement” is implementation of the action research project, with formative and summative evaluation of the results.
- “Sustain Improvement” is examining the ways that the improvements implemented through the action research plan can be maintained and improved.

Yvette,
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed seeing your new blog them. It is very creative. I really had to study what you had written, it was just a little hard to concentrate on the text over the the photo frames in the background, but what you had written defined the pieces of action research in a very easy to understand way. Thank You, it gave me a better understanding of what we are to be preparing to implement as we embark on our own Action Research projects.
Your blog for week two of Action Research summarized the important extras's from last week's lesson. Your summary, as did last week's got right to the meat of the lesson. This weeks' assignment requires that we apply some of what we have learned, I hope that you are getting your action plan together without too much trouble and look forward to your post about the process.
